Andres Vasquez

At SB Friedman, Andres has worked on a range of projects to support economic growth, including an existing conditions audit to identify strategic public interventions for improved commercial corridor vitality on Chicago’s South Side, and identifying anti-displacement and commercial vibrancy solutions for underperforming commercial areas as part of a transit-oriented development (TOD) plan in the Charleston, SC, region. He is currently conducting an analysis of the development dynamics and potential development scenarios that could be unlocked by the removal of I-375 in downtown Detroit. He is also involved in the firm’s nonprofit work, mapping community assets and identifying community context for potential projects receiving grants through The Chicago Community Trust’s Neighborhood Capital Fund. 

Prior to joining SB Friedman, Andres interned for the Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, with additional experience volunteering at his local Special Service Area. Andres was selected for the 2023–2025 cohort of the Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service and is involved with the Obama Leadership Network and the American Planning Association.
