Whitney Thomas

Whitney is an urban planner whose equity-centered, community-informed approach is grounded in rigorous quantitative analyses.

Whitney’s experience includes market studies and data analyses for district, citywide and regional plans, as well as technical real estate assistance to local nonprofits. She is currently assessing and recommending housing affordability and homelessness policies related to a proposed bus rapid transit (BRT) line in the Charleston, SC region, and developing associated neighborhood transit-oriented development (TOD) plans.

Prior to joining the firm, Whitney worked at Grayscale Collaborative, an urban design and planning firm in Greater Boston, where she partnered with public-sector clients, community-based organizations and the public in support of the City of Boston’s unprecedented community engagement process for a transportation corridor plan through the city’s primarily Black and brown neighborhoods.
